Astyanax / The Lord of King Version Differences (Famicom / NES)
Unlike the arcade version, Famicom / NES ones include proper ingame story.
And the names are the only difference between Famicom and NES versions.
So, here are the names in both Japanese and US versions of the game:

Famicom: Rosh (ローシュ)
NES: Astyanax
This differences originates in the arcade version of the game.

Damsel in Distress
Famicom: Tonpuson / Thompson (トンプソン)
NES: Rosebud

Fairy Companion
Famicom: Cutie (キューティ)
NES: Cutie

Main Villain
Famicom: Maō Makumahon / Devil McMahon (魔王マクマホン)
NES: Blackhorn

Villain’s Guard
Famicom: Mage Lich (メイジリッチ)
NES: Thorndog

As you can see, only Cutie’s name is the same in both versions.
Even though you may expect it to be a poor English
translation from NES times, it actually isn’t.
