Bakuryū Sentai Abaranger (爆竜戦隊アバレンジャー) game for SEGA Pico platform. As you probably guessed, it’s based on TV show with the same name, which is a part of famous Super Sentai Series by Toei. Technically, it’s almost the same thing with previous Super Sentai game for Pico - Ninpū Sentai Hurricaneger & Hyakujū Sentai Gaoranger Chō Sentai Super Battle (忍風戦隊ハリケンジャー & 百獣戦隊ガオレ ンジャー 超 戦隊スーパーバトル). There’ll be some new mini-games this time, but only one team. Here’s what you’ll find in the game:
Mode #1:
Fighting game. Exactly the same with those in Ninpū Sentai Hurricaneger & Hyakujū Sentai Gaoranger Chō Sentai Super Battle. Extremely poor and unbalanced, but with special moves and battles of giants. You can play both as heroes and villains, but only heroes’ victories will lead into a battles of giants. During the battles of giants you can swap Abarenō’s parts, or summon Bakuryū Brachiosaurus to help-bra!
Mode #2:
Three mini games. The first one is shuriken throwing shooter. Exactly the same with the one from Ninpū Sentai Hurricaneger & Hyakujū Sentai Gaoranger Chō Sentai Super Battle. Kill some Baamia-hei and then defeat boss. The second mini-game is pretty similar, only you’ll play as Bakuryū Brachiosaurus and will need to keep enemies away from Abarangers, who’ll try to escape from them (in a very heroic way, obviously). Third mini-game is different and will require you to combine three groups of the same tiles to win.
Mode #3:
This mode is all about Ride Raptors. Again, three mini-games here. The first one wants you to press SEGA Pico’s control button as fast as you can to keep AbaRed’s (you can’t choose the member) speed high enough to be the first. Second mini-game is a labyrinth, where you should defeat some enemies, find your friends and then reach the finish. Third one is a racing game again, but this time the most important thing is to survive by dodging the obstacles and jumping.
Move #4
Three more mini-games. The first one is a button masher again. Press the button as fast as you can to make Bakuryū Tyrannosaurus, Bakuryū Triceratops and Bakuryū Pteranodon to gattai (combine) and form mighty Abarenō. Exactly the same thing with one of the mini-games from Ninpū Sentai Hurricaneger & Hyakujū Sentai Gaoranger Chō Sentai Super Battle. Second mini-game is something we’ve already seen in previous game too. It’s that Sapper-like thing again. Only this time you’re playing as Bakuryū Tyrannosaurus and instead of digging you should destroy rocks and trees. The goal is the same - to find the other Bakuryū to form Abarenō. This time, though, you can find some power-ups (like you can increase time and movement speed) and there’ll be some enemies. Unlike Sapper, though, you can’t die, so, the worst thing enemies can do is to steal a second of time from you. Finally, in the last mini-game you'll need to use the "magic pen" to make Abarenō to perform Tyranno Drill and destroy some rocks.
Mode #5:
Our regular drawing software. Exactly the same with all previous ones that we’ve seen in each and every Super Sentai game for SEGA Pico.
